At Quran Chat, we've integrated advanced AI to help you explore the Qur'an with greater depth, ask meaningful questions, and receive instant, educational responses—all designed as a learning tool that complements traditional study, not as a religious authority. Answers are drawn from the Mufti Taqi Usmani translation of the Quran and the Ma'ariful Qur'an tafsir. Arabic verses are quoted in the exact Tanzil Uthmani text, from the Tanzil Project.

Pick the assistant that suits you. Alim gives clear, direct, referenced answers. Nur is gentle and reflective, for when you want to talk something through. Both draw on the same sources, and your chats are saved to your account so you can return to them.

The AI behind it

Quran Chat is powered by open-source AI that we run ourselves, built for one job: answering from the sources.

  • An open model on our own hardware. Qwen3, a 4-billion-parameter open-source model (Apache 2.0), configured for Quran Chat and served from our own hardware. Your messages are not sent to a third-party AI provider.
  • 28,454 source passages. All 6,236 verses of Mufti Taqi Usmani’s translation and 22,218 passages of Ma’ariful Qur’an. Each question first looks up the passages that answer it.
  • Arabic checked letter by letter. Every Arabic quote is compared with Tanzil’s Uthmani text of the Quran; a quote that doesn’t match is corrected or removed. In our tests, Arabic answers with a wrong Quran quote went from 5 of 12 to 0 of 12.
  • Citations checked. A citation must point to a verse the answer was actually given.
  • Careful with rulings and hard moments. Questions asking for a personal ruling get the sources and the advice to ask a qualified scholar; people going through something hard get verses of hope and a pointer to help.

Answers you can check

Answers name the surah and verse they rely on, and citations and Arabic quotes are checked before they reach you. If you ask for a personal ruling, you get the relevant sources and the advice to ask a qualified scholar. If you are going through something hard, you get verses of hope and a pointer to help.

Free to use

Quran Chat is free, with nothing to buy. Sign in with Google and you get 20 messages a day per account. When the allowance resets you can chat again, and your saved chats stay in your account.
