1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes our current practices regarding the collection, use, and protection of personal information when you use the Quran Chat marketing website and the Quran Chat application. We are committed to respecting your privacy in line with our Islamic values and applicable data protection laws. 2. Who we are

“Quran Chat,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the Quran Chat platform, including the website at thequranchat.com and the application. Our contact details are set out in the Contact section below.

3. Marketing website (this site)

Our marketing website (thequranchat.com) is intended to operate without analytics or tracking. Our current practice is to avoid collecting identifiable personal data through this site where possible. For any changes to this practice, we will update this policy.

4. The Quran Chat application

4.1 Account

You sign in with Google. From your Google account we receive your name, email address, and profile picture, as provided by Google. We use this information to create and identify your account.

4.2 Chat and conversation data

We store your chat threads, including the messages you send and the answers you receive, to provide the chat experience (including saved chats) and to improve our service. Conversations are intended to be private and are not shared publicly. We do not sell your personal data; we share it only with trusted providers (such as our hosting partners) as necessary to operate the service and as described in this policy.

4.3 Usage and technical data

We keep a daily message counter for your account to apply the daily message allowance. We also keep basic technical and security logs, including your IP address, for rate limiting and abuse prevention.

4.4 AI model

Answers are generated by Quran Chat's own AI setup: an open model (Qwen3) configured for Quran Chat, which answers from the Mufti Taqi Usmani translation and Ma'ariful Qur'an and checks its citations and Arabic quotes. It runs on the operator's own hardware, and our current practice is not to send user messages to third-party AI providers. 4.5 Voluntary support via PayPal

If you choose to support Quran Chat through PayPal (paypal.me/balint94), PayPal processes the payment under its own privacy policy. PayPal shares with us the details it shows to a payment recipient, such as your name, email address, the amount, and any note you add. We use these details only to thank you, to keep a record of the support we receive, and as required by law. Sending support is optional.

5. Data retention and deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service and comply with legal obligations. Deleting your account deletes the account and its chats, and we aim to remove personally identifiable information promptly. We may retain certain information where required by law or for legitimate operational purposes (e.g. fraud prevention, legal compliance). 6. Third-party services

We use third-party services for sign-in, voluntary support payments, hosting, analytics, and monitoring. These may include Google (sign-in), PayPal (voluntary support payments, see Section 4.5), Cloudflare (hosting and, where used, web analytics), Sentry, and Google Analytics (in the app, where used). Our current practice is not to use third-party AI providers to answer your messages. Our marketing site is intended to operate without analytics; see Section 3. Each provider has its own privacy practices; we encourage you to review them where relevant.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

On the marketing website, our current practice is to avoid non-essential tracking cookies. In the application, we may use cookies or similar technologies (e.g. via Cloudflare or analytics tools). Where we use consent mechanisms, we will not insert tracking if consent is not given, in line with our then-current practice. For more detail, see our Cookie Policy.

8. Your data rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, rectify, delete, or export your data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can request deletion of your account and associated data through the app or by contacting us. We will respond in line with applicable law. 9. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information using industry-standard measures. No system is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

10. Children and users under 18

The service is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you are under 18, the laws that apply to you (e.g. in your country or region) may require parental or guardian consent before we can process your data; our current practice is to expect that users under 18 have such consent where it is required. If you believe we have collected data from someone under 16, please contact us so we can take appropriate steps.

11. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including by our service providers. We take steps to ensure that such processing is subject to appropriate safeguards where required by law.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy where permitted by law.
