Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes our current practices regarding the collection, use, and protection of personal information when you use the Quran Chat marketing website and the Quran Chat application. We are committed to respecting your privacy in line with our Islamic values and applicable data protection laws. For the current state of our practices, see this policy and any updates we publish here.

2. Who we are

“Quran Chat,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the Quran Chat platform, including the website at thequranchat.com and the application. Our contact details are set out in the Contact section below.

3. Marketing website (this site)

Our marketing website (thequranchat.com) is intended to operate without analytics or tracking. Our current practice is to avoid collecting identifiable personal data through this site where possible. For any changes to this practice, we will update this policy.

4. The Quran Chat application

4.1 Account and onboarding

Users can create accounts. During onboarding we may ask questions to better understand you and your faith-related goals. We may also collect information such as age and gender where we offer that option. This information is used to personalise and improve the service and is processed in accordance with this policy.

4.2 Chat and conversation data

We store conversation data to provide the chat experience and to improve our service. Our current practice includes using such data for these purposes. Conversations are intended to be private and are not shared publicly. We do not sell your personal data; we share it only with trusted providers (such as our hosting and AI infrastructure partners, including the provider of the AI model that powers the chat) as necessary to operate the service and as described in this policy.

4.3 AI provider

The chat feature is powered by a third-party AI model (K2 Think V2, developed by MBZUAI). Questions and relevant context may be sent to this provider to generate responses. See our Terms of Service and Disclaimer for how we describe the AI and its limitations.

5. Data retention and deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service and comply with legal obligations. When you delete your account, we aim to remove personally identifiable information promptly. We may retain certain information where required by law or for legitimate operational purposes (e.g. fraud prevention, legal compliance). For details on exercising your rights, see the Data Rights section below and our Data Rights page.

6. Third-party services

We use third-party services for hosting, analytics, monitoring, payments, and AI. These may include Cloudflare (hosting and, where used, web analytics), payment or merchant-of-record processors, Sentry, Google Analytics (in the app, where used), and the AI API provider. Our marketing site is intended to operate without analytics; see Section 3. Each provider has its own privacy practices; we encourage you to review them where relevant.

7. Payments

We do not collect or store your full payment card details. Payment processing is handled by third-party payment and merchant-of-record providers. Their privacy policies apply to the data they collect for processing payments.

8. Cookies and similar technologies

On the marketing website, our current practice is to avoid non-essential tracking cookies. In the application, we may use cookies or similar technologies (e.g. via Cloudflare or analytics tools). Where we use consent mechanisms, we will not insert tracking if consent is not given, in line with our then-current practice. For more detail, see our Cookie Policy.

9. Your data rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, rectify, delete, or export your data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can request deletion of your account and associated data through the app or by contacting us. We will respond in line with applicable law. For a summary of your rights and how to exercise them, see our Data Rights page.

10. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information using industry-standard measures. No system is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

11. Children and users under 18

The service is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you are under 18, the laws that apply to you (e.g. in your country or region) may require parental or guardian consent before we can process your data; our current practice is to expect that users under 18 have such consent where it is required. If you believe we have collected data from someone under 16, please contact us so we can take appropriate steps.

12. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including by our service providers. We take steps to ensure that such processing is subject to appropriate safeguards where required by law.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy where permitted by law.

14. Contact and data protection

For privacy-related questions, requests, or complaints, contact us at salaam@thequranchat.com. We do not designate a separate Data Protection Officer; requests are handled by our general contact. We will respond in accordance with applicable data protection law.
